After looking back at last year's Christmas post I am excited to post this one.

2011 has been a great year for us, filled with good times and quite a bit of happiness.

For us it can be described in Luke 6:19 "And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all." The Lord works mighty miracles and He has done so for us.

Asher's second year has been adventurous. Just last week he ran into a pile of wood and now has a huge gash in his face. Praise Jesus it was the day after these pics were taken. haha.

We are expecting our second boy in April. The house is going to be wild!

Austin still very much enjoys his job. It might be because of all the cars we get ;)

Austin and I have had several Volkswagen vehicles this year. It's so fun. The line up included a Golf, Jetta, Passat (winner of the 2012 Motor Trend Car of the Year Award!), CC, Routan, and soon you can spot me in the small SUV Tiguan.

We sure do love all of you and wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We recently repainted and rearranged our space. Shout out to Austin! I so appreciate all his help. As a noun, paint is a great word but as a verb not so much;)

I love this double vanity turned TV stand. Liquidations by Lila in Hixson is an excellent source for deals. This cost just $140. Downside: Austin now wants a larger TV. I have to say, the proportions would be better but seriously?

My sis gave me this painting for Christmas. She will be a HS Senior this year and plans to study art at BYU. The artwork goes well with the pillow covers I found on Etsy. Kendall rocks!

I am thinking about painting this table a charcoal gray. Any thoughts?

The apartment originally came with a repulsive white ceiling fan over the dining room. We replaced it with this IKEA pendant and it has made a huge difference in the feel of this room.

Onto the bedroom. The dresser is yet another from Lila's ($100!). The rug was a steal from Home Goods. The walls were a dreadful peachy taupe. The new Quiet Rain color brightens the room nicely.

For our anniversary, Austin gave me the jewelry hanger from Urban Outfitters.

These glass orbs are a gift from my bro Brendan. He collected them for me while in Japan. They are hand blown glass fishing floats. The bubbles in the glass are mesmerizing.

You might recognize the mirror frame pattern. It's wrapping paper from Target. I mod podged an old mirror that came from Austin's Nonni.

Inspired by an Anthro window display, I made origami art above the headboard. The paper patterns create a faux quilt.

Trevin came to visit today and boy did Asher have fun with this guy! They threw rocks in the creeks, played at the apartment play place, tried desperately to dig a lucky penny out of a tight spot, did cannonballs at the swimming pool, ate cupcakes, and watched Asher's favorite movie Montie (or Monkey for Curious George).

My favorite activity was the science experiments. Did you know Hobby Lobby is filled with all kinds of projects for boys? Any kind of project a boy could dream of is there. Trevin picked out a Lab in a Bag: Test Tube Discoveries.

We have serveral things going on here. Bleeding paper, lava lamps, bouncing marbles that grew in water and gravity goo.

I had about as much fun as the boys. Trevin is so well behaved and I was very impressed with his patience with my two year old.

Austin recently participated in the Chickamauga Chase 5k. He placed 5th in his age bracket. Very proud of him!

We spent the afternoon at the annual VW car show in Chattanooga. The vehicles on display were impressive.

While at Walmart a lady stopped us to play with Asher's toes and tell me that he is beautiful. He really is. Even when he eats dirt:)

I planted a new geranium. I love these flowers.

I thought Asher was too old for dirt, but I thought wrong.

Ick. Maybe it's not so good afterall.

"Hey Mom, I'm up here." Asher gets his cast off in less than a week and good thing since it's already coming apart. His daddy duct taped it for him.

His new camera pose includes sticking out his tongue.

I am impressed that he can tell when my phone stops being a phone and becomes a camera. Love this guy!

According to Channel News 9, Chattanooga has not seen this much snow since 1992! I think that may be the same year I remember it snowed in Houston.

It is so beautiful at 8 inches thick. It is not powder like out west, it's more icy but still fun.

Yes, in the South we wear rain boots in the snow;)

My Jetta is covered. I hope you heard about the new Passat that is being built in Chattanooga. Austin is one of the few that braved the streets and made it to work because he is so focused. haha. Happy snow day!

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

I love the original Judy Garland version of that song. It is my favorite for the season;)

2010 is wrapping up well but we are glad to see it behind us. We faced some struggles, persevered and are definitely stronger now. We still have much to be grateful for.

In May Austin filled a finance position at the new Volkswagen plant. It has been an excellent change for him. He enjoys his job and is enthusiastic about the new 2012 vehicle.

Asher is rapidly growing and learning new things. He tries his best to mimic things we say. So far, he really has only half a dozen words in his vocab including ball, go, mama, dada, gigi, dall (Kendall). He is a little daredevil enjoying free-falling from our bed to pillows on the floor. Asher has great rhythm evidenced by his dancing. We sure do love him:)

Kimberly is having fun in her brand new 2010 Jetta in Tungsten Silver. Taking care of Asher is full time. She keeps busy in Relief Society and at the YMCA.

We all enjoy Chattanooga. It is a beautiful southern city and we are very blessed to live in it. Merry Christmas! We love you all!

Saturday we visited Mayfield Farms in Athens, TN and found a new Fall tradition. It is 1100 acres of true awesome!

We browsed the produce stand, jumped on hay bales, watched teens launch corn cobs from cannons, bounced on a hay ride behind a John Deere tractor, picked a perfect pumpkin, navigated through a corn maze and enjoyed the perfect weather!

One of the old farmers told us the pumpkins were actually from an outside source and so is the milk they use in their ice cream since they have only four cows, none of which produce milk. haha!

Batman!

While I was out boogying in ATL, Asher and his daddy had fun doing boy stuff. Which apparently, includes shopping at the dollar store. Austin said Asher found this hat there, put it on and squealed when Austin tried to take it away.

Of course, he had to buy it for him. Who could resist this cutie?

I assume he still likes it since he wore it for hours this evening.

Jennifer and I drove to Atlanta for the SYTYCD tour show. Wow! It was awesome. We were lucky to not have to drive in too much rain but we did get a little wet in the parking lot :) We made it early enough to stuff ourselves at Carrabbas before the show. mmm.

Here we are looking hot :)

We saw Lauren, Kent (adorable), Robert, AdeChike, Ashley, Billy, Jose (meh), Ade, Courtney, Allison (love her!), Dominic (great entertainer), Kathryn and Russell.

The show consisted mostly of season 7 top performances but it also included a few new numbers. Loved it!

So excited for the show to start!

Touch A Truck

Saturday we took Asher to Touch a Truck Day at the Riverpark. Although it was a pretty sweltering day, the trucks were awesome! They had everything a boy could dream of!

Including a fire truck

The concrete mixer (one of Asher's favorite books btw;)

Even a boat!

We also saw a mail truck, several ambulances, utility trucks, moving trucks, an adorable antique car and motocycles. All this week when Asher sees a truck he gets excited. He points to it and says "Ugk!"

Note: I know in the first picture I look like I might have a baby bump but I promise that it is the shirt. I am not preggo. Thank goodness!

Ramune and Sushi

For date night on Friday we left Asher with a babysitter and spent the evening in Northshore. We ate at Sushi Nabe and had some of the best sushi ever! Our favorite was the Scenic City roll (salmon, snow crab, cream cheese, avocado and tempura crunchies wrapped in a light green seaweed and shaped like triangles).

We shared this Japanese soda that tasted like bubble gum. The bottle was the coolest part. It is made of glass and sealed with a small glass marble that you push down inside to open the drink and the marble floats in the bottle. So cool! If I were Brendan I would miss these ;)

Labor Day

For the Labor Day Holiday we visited Fall Creek Falls. It is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi. A cold front came through over the weekend and it was a beautiful day.

In March there was nearly two feet of water running over this area. I attribute the low levels to Global Warming (yeah right!)

Asher enjoyed running on the rocks and smiling at the tourists.

And crossing the scary suspension bridge :)

It was the last day the park's swimming pool was open and it was sooo cold. But Asher LOVED it! He wouldn't get out even though he started shivering. To be honest, it still had nothing on The Snake River.

After running around The Tennessee Aquarium Asher enjoyed splashing in the streams on Town Square. The crowds loved to watch him dance to the music from the street performer.

We also hit up Ben & Jerry's for a little Cherry Garcia. mmmm.

Last week, Asher and I went with my family to Panama City. It was so beautiful and there was absolutely no oil or tar balls. We just can't get enough of those gorgeous beaches!

Toes in the Water, Bum in the Sand

We love Florida beaches! So glad we were able to visit before the oil reached the shores of Panama City.

Asher enjoyed playing and digging in the sand. He braved the ocean and stuck his toes in the water a few times. But his favorite area was the showers on the deck of our condo.

Aunt Cass and Uncle Dan are expecting TWINS! They are due in November. She is just glowing and you can spot her little baby bump.

Asher Dean is so cool in his shades.

Our final morning on the beach the waters finally began to stir and I caught some really awesome waves on the boogie board. Two of the waves took me all the way up to the sand. So fun.

Too bad we had to say goodbye. I hope the fed gov't can get their act together (haha when pigs fly) and approve something that will solve the oil spill problem.

Looking forward to visiting these white sands again.

Vandergriff and a Great Find

We met up for playgroup at a new park for us called Vandergriff. It was a great place for kids with so much to play on. Asher had fun with his friend Jude.

This was the first time I put him in the swings. He loooved it!

And now, for the best part of this post. Last night Austin and I came across a great find. We have been wanting a good ottoman/coffee table with storage for our living room. We found this one that is so big, with great storage and the perfect color for our cool toned house. It was all for just $50! Wow. What a steal.

It goes very well with the lamps I bought about a month ago.

Sunday we celebrated our baby boy's first birthday! We met with family for a fancy luncheon and we watched him open presents and cover himself in chocolate. Many thanks to Gigi and Papa for helping to make it so nice. As always, ya'll are amazing!

Before he opened presents and ate cake, Asher fell asleep in the middle of his own party. It was all just too much. But after a little snooze he really enjoyed the day.

Nearly One

Asher, your birthday is in two days and you will be one! In just one short year you have changed our lives entirely. It's humorous to think that all of the preparations, gadgets, books, baby foods and clothes were to get us through to just this point.

I look at your newborn pics and see how much you have grown. While I miss that tiny baby with his fist smashed in his mouth I remember that after all the sleepless nights, sore boobs, indeterminable reasons for your fussing, and changing the diaper genie daily - I am really enjoying this stage.

You are so much fun to play with. Your laughter has blessed our home and family in countless ways. Lately, you have been working on your ballin' skills and it is quite apparent that you are a boy. Even as I type this you have found daddy's basketball and you are throwing it around the room. You love to clap and you sure are a showboat, squealing for our attention and approval. You cannot walk yet but your climbing skills are paramount. I would give you all 10s!

I have run out of pages of What to Expect the First Year. I have a feeling we are about to hit the ground running and time will be gone before we know it. We love you Jelly Bean! Happy early birthday! Please don't grow up too fast.

Miracle of miracles! My ring has come back! Thanks to a very honest old lady named Glenda. She found my ring at the CVS in Huntsville and worked very hard to contact me and return it. My mom has it currently but it will be returned to my finger when we visit for Asher's bday party. Hallelujah!

Saturday I lost my wedding ring. Needless to say, I am rather miserable about it. Austin worked so hard for that little bit of gold and diamond. Maybe if I do as Oprah says and put it out to the Universe then it will come back to me. . . but I have never really put much faith in her.

What a gorgeous day! The glorious sun has finally decided to grace us with her presence and temps are in the 50s.

Asher and I went to the North River Park downtown.

He loved exploring. He felt the brown grass and found acorn toppers to chew on. Yucky!

He liked chasing the older kids on their tricycles. Phew! Now that he crawls so fast I was really out of breath keeping up with him.

For Valentine's Day this year we traveled to Huntsville. (Obviously for the free babysitting!)

Saturday night I wore a new dress custom made by my mom! Austin took me to dinner at a small restaurant in downtown square The Phoenix Bistro. It was very romantic and had excellent service. Austin ate a huge steak and I had catfish with shrimp and grits. Yum!

Austin gave me a gorgeous gift , like always. It is a freshwater pearl necklace. The pearls are a shimmering chocolate. I also received pink tulips. He bought them from a fundraiser for First Things First, a non profit organization dedicated to strengthening families and marriages in Tennessee.

I love my husband!

When Austin returned home from work yesterday neither Asher or I were home...and he found this sign laying in the flower bed.

Can you say scary? Whoah. Needless to say, he was a little freaked out.

When he called me I didn't believe him at first and then I told him I didn't want him to go inside.

Today, I was relieved when I spoke to my neighbors because I found out that it was from last week when a little girl across the way built a snowman. When the sun came out she made this sign for him. It must have blown in front of our door.

Hahaha. Now it's kind of funny. ;-)

Two Sickies

Yesterday I just went crazy with the craftiness! Thanks Hubby for watching the Pooka Monster while I burned myself with hot glue and sniffed Mod Podge (actually it's non-toxic and not quite as fun as rubber cement haha).

After a little blog surfing and a run to Hobby Lobby, our home is now sufficiently ready for Valentine's Day. And it's not even February yet.

What really inspired this frenzy? Well, I will tell you but I must warn you: the following is not for the weak stomached.

Sunday had to have been the worst day of my life, well in a long time. It started when I woke up around 3 in the morning puking my guts out. Ewww...it was gross! I have not done that since I was in second or third grade. I felt so ill and dizzy. My first thought was that I might be pregnant. Even though I was not at all sick with Asher and we are doing all we can to avoid it from happening again, I cannot dismiss the possibility that it might happen. Anyway, when I was on my third bout with the bathroom sink (Austin was not too pleased that I forgot to use the toilet. Thanks for cleaning it all up babe!) we heard Asher in his crib heaving. Uh-oh. Poor baby was also sick. And he wasn't just spitting up normal baby stuff it was chunks just like mine.

I gotta say, Austin was a great nurse for Asher. Poor guy had no sleep when he went to give his talk for church that day. He also tried his best to help me out but I sure missed my dad. He was always so much help when I was sick. He would rub my back and hold my hair out of my face. I remember him coming in late nights to rescue me with cough syrup or a heating pad. Love you Dad!

After trying to sleep it off all day and basically fasting with just Gatorade (me) and Pedialyte (Asher), by evening as quick as the sickness came it left. I have concluded that it was a food poisoning and most likely from that awful Mojo Burrito we ate at on Saturday. Yuck. Don't imagine I will ever go back there. Come Monday, I was so happy to be well and unsick and I decided to use all of my new energy to create with pink and red. Happy early v-day!

Oh yeah, and did I mention that my newly returned monthly friend came for a visit on Sunday as well? At least I know I am not preggers. While we love this little guy in the sink I am not looking for another one any time soon.

Nine Months!

Today, Asher has been outside of me for nearly as much time as he spent growing inside of me. Wow that went by fast! He is having so much fun exploring the world while we enjoy watching him.

He loves his new toys he got for Christmas.

Missing Idaho

It's snowing in Chattanooga today and the temperatures are just right that some of it is sticking to the sidewalks. The pretty falling snowflakes remind me of our time in Idaho and I am missing some things. It's been nearly three years since we graduated college and came back south. I remember our last semester we just couldn't wait to pack everything up and get out.

Being closer to home and family has been great and I don't see us ever leaving this area again. But we hold some very dear memories of Rexburg including....

New Year's 2010

This year, Austin and I discovered that there really isn't much you can do for New Year's Eve with a little baby. New Year's Eve day Austin drove all over Southeast Tennessee to perform inventory audits on a rent to own business. He came home around 8 that evening. Sadly, there were no fireworks downtown and while I would have loved to hit up some clubs for a little dancing I don't think there are any that offer babysitting ;-)

So, we did the next best thing. We drove to Walmart and walked around. Awesome! In our sweats we looked like the People of Walmart for sure. Once home, we tried our best to live vicariously through the people partying in Times Square. Love Melissa Rycroft!

Somehow, Asher knew he was supposed to stay up until midnight. No matter what I did he refused to go down until 12:05! Then, Austin and I played Monopoly. I was lucky enough to land on all of the RRs first and I ended up winning. It was the highlight of my night!

This weekend our friends Jody and Emmy came to visit us with their baby boy that is just 10 days younger than Asher. They recently moved back from Missoula, Montana to Tuscaloosa! Originally Crimson Tide fans they also developed a liking for the Grizzlies from The University of Montana while living in Missoula.

Friday night, the Grizzlies matched up against the Villanova Wildcats right here in Chattanooga! Naturally, our friends had to drive up to see us and take us to the game. We had a great time with our friends from Tuscaloosa who, oddly enough we actually met in Rexburg. We are so happy that they have returned to The South and hope to spend more time with them in the near future.

Season's Greetings

We are in the midst of my favorite time of year!

I love Fall for so many reasons. Alabama Football, Halloween costumes and candy corn, Scorpio birthdays, my sister's dining table center pieces, corn bread dressing, Blue Bell Peppermint Ice Cream and preparations for Santa!

This year we have so much to be grateful for. Austin graduated from The University of Alabama with an MBA and started a job as an Auditor for Decosimo in Chattanooga, TN.

Rocky has really filled out. We were worried that he might be a skinny kid forever but he is a full sized Boxer now.

I bid farewell to my full time job in Birmingham and am enjoying being a mom to our newest addition Asher Dean. He is the most beautiful baby and so photogenic (evidenced by this blog). Everything is brand new to our baby and it reminds us to stop and be thankful as well. Being parents is even more difficult than we could have ever imagined but it is an experience that is well worth the struggle.

Our little family is full of so much love. We are grateful to all our friends and family for supporting us on our journey. Happy holidays and Roll Tide!

Reminiscing August 2003

I recently overheard some of Kendall's friends discussing their future plans for college. Topics ranged from applications to housing plans. It was all I could do to not jump right in and tell them everything I know about college. But I held my tongue and simply said that college is awesome!

BYU-Idaho was the best. I made so many memories there and I learned not just about secular truth but also about who I am and what I was meant to do.

Yesterday, while at my mom's house I was going through some old photos and came across pics from my college days. Below is a scanned photo from the very first day that I moved into my Freshman dorm in Chapman Hall. While there, I made some wonderful friends. These are just two of them.

This was just before digital cameras became the norm. I used several disposable cameras that year and had the film developed at Walmart. It's funny to think that I am old enough to say that.

Today, all three of us are moms living in opposite corners of the country. It's funny to think that at that moment in time none of us knew our husbands nor our babies.

I had so many silly worries back then and as I was looking through photos I thought, "If only I knew then what I know now." Hilarious! But I find that every life stage has been that way. It is a learning process. A lesson to be discovered on your own. And that's why, with Kendall's friends, I held my tongue.

When we were deciding whether or not to get Rocky I researched Boxers and found that they are good and patient with children. Since having Asher this has shown to be very true.

Asher loves his dog! Lately he has learned to pull at his ears, paws and nubby tail. Rocky will simply move a little but seems to enjoy the baby just as much as we do.

Ooooo. I love this month. Temperatures cool off, the leaves turn beautiful colors and best of all it's Halloween!! One of my favorite holidays. My dad's birthday is on Halloween and I always looked forward to the big package from my grandma that held the handmade costumes for my brother and me. Usually I was a princess. One year I was Sleeping Beauty and my grandma made me both a pink dress and a blue one because in the Disney version the fairies fight over the color of her dress. A few years later I was a genie. My neighbor did my hair all fancy and I wore glitter on my face. Back then, Halloween was better than Prom!

4 Months Old

Wow. In a way, I can't believe that Asher is already four months old. He was soo itty bitty and now he is getting to be a big baby. Yet in another way, I can't believe I have only known him for four months. That's only a third of one year. Only a semester of school. Just a bit longer than Summer Break.

Austin and I love him to pieces. While I definitely can remember life and all the leisure before I met Asher ;-) I can't imagine life without him now.

First Date

Saturday evening Austin took me out on our first date since having Asher. We were in Huntsville and took advantage of the free babysitting. I wore my new dress from Shabby Apple and new white pumps.

We ate at Dolce on Bridgestreet. The restaurant had the perfect romantic atmosphere. For an appetizer we tried the Carpaccio dish. It consists of marinated raw beef, arugula, parmigiano and balsamico. It was excellent! I definitely recommend it for fine dining.

Of course, I had to hit up my favorite store Anthropologie. I never buy anything there but just walking through it makes me so happy. It always smells delicious and I am inspired to make my home beautiful. Bath and Body Works had a buy two get one free sale so I picked up the new scent Butterfly Flower.

After we drove around downtown HuntsVegas we ended the night with a kiss, a few more and ......

This weekend the weather has been perfect with temps in the 70s and a slight breeze. Bizaaro Southern weather for July. Yesterday, we took advantage of the beauty and had a picnic at the Renaissance Park downtown. We had fun eating our Mojo Burritos and strolling over the bridge. Austin also got a chance to work on his photography skills. :-)

Jen was never -- NOT EVER -- going to let her child sleep in bed with her. And the woman next door yelling at her toddlers? Clearly the meanest mom in the world. Then there's Kate, who’d never have a living room full of toys (“Why would such a tiny person need that much stuff anyway?”) or spend big chunks of dough on baby clothes that would only fit for a few months. This, of course, was before Jen and Kate had children of their own.

Fast-forward to parenthood...and...you guessed it: Jen's baby wouldn't sleep a wink without physical contact. “Desperate times call for desperate measures,” she says, admitting to snoozing with an infant on her chest. And two years later, she knows what that neighbor was going through. “I mean, I never thought I’d have to tell my child not to drink out of a puddle...more than once...every time it rains. They just make you crazy!” And Kate? Yeah, her house is flooded with tiny basketballs and singing Elmos, and she's battling a serious addiction to J.Crew's Crewcuts line. “I can't help it!” she swears.

THE TRUTH
Clearly, the realities of sleepless nights and frustrated kiddos can put a few kinks in your parenting plans. What's happening here? “I didn't realize how strong my baby's personality would be until we had him,” admits Jennifer, mom to two-year-old Cameron. “But I do think you need to have an idea of the kind of parent you want to be. You need a discipline structure. I have that.” And she doesn't think that structure disappears when she lets him run around the table at a restaurant or bribes him with a vanilla wafer. In her opinion, this doesn't make her weak -- it makes her smart. “Some things aren’t worth fighting over. You just have to pick your battles. I know I'm winning the war.” In other words, it's all about compromise. Better to have a safe, healthy, kind kid than one who has a gold star on their chart for never using a pacifier, right? Rocky Went Out Last Night

Chattanooga, being the hip and swanky city that it is, has just the greatest place on Earth for Rocky - a dog park! We take him almost every opportunity that we have and he loves it. As soon as we pull up to the parking lot he starts salivating and moving back and forth in his seat. Boxers are very high energy dogs and Rocky is no exception. The dog park does wonders for his behavior. If we spend half an hour in the evening watching him run, sniff and play with the other dogs, he is so well behaved for me the next day. This is a good thing since Austin and I have switched roles and I am now home with him during the day.

We like to call him our Rockstar. When we take him out everybody loves him. Just last weekend at the fireworks show someone commented that he was the prettiest Boxer they'd ever seen. We like to think so. ;-)

Techie Nerds

Yes, that is what we have become. Austin and I built our own computer this week. How freakin wicked is that?

Our laptop was becoming a dinosaur (4 years old). We were in desperate need of something with more memory and storage space. At first we thought about getting the new HP Touchscreen or an iMac and we started saving up. But over time we discussed how cool it would be to have a comp that was also our TV all in one. We researched the idea further and found that it was very possible with the new flatscreen TVs because they have PC inputs or HDMI inputs (all new techie lingo I have become familiar with). Austin started talking with a guy at work who has experience with building comps and gave him some tips on the process.

We ordered most of the parts from Tiger Direct and everything shipped out so quickly. We followed a guide on the internet very closely and voila! we have a brand new comp that works great with oodles of memory. The best part is that the resolution is awesome on our new LG LCD flatpanel.

Asher and I look up Disney clips on YouTube and watch them like movies. Well, he mostly just listens. I think he likes the Jungle Book songs the best. "I wanna be a man, man cub..." Before I had a baby I thought I would dread listening to and watching cartoons but it's funny how nicely nistalgic it is. Life was so good as a child. Actually, it still is. I built my own comp!!

P.S. I highly recommend the Adobe Premiere Elements for video editing. Now I can post videos from my camera instead of my phone. Yay!

This is the Fisher Price swing from the Zen Collection. Asher just loves it. It was a gift from his Nana Jo and it has been a great blessing for Mommy. Not only is it functional as a swing and a bouncer seat, it can be rotated to swing side to side or back and forth. Also, it is aesthetically pleasing and goes well in the house. You know I love that!

Happy Four Years!

When I first met Austin he was home six days off his mission. He had spent the last two years in Tijuana, Mexico. He still seemed a bit shell shocked and he spoke with a Spanish accent. At our first encounter he shook my hand very business-like and simply smiled. His smile is what struck me first and I wondered when I would see him again.

Just a few days later he sat next to me at Rosie's Cantina in Huntsville. He was a great story teller and I laughed at almost everything he had to say. I found him to be charming and it felt good to be with him. I guess he thought the same about me because we spent the remainder of that summer together.

I sat next to him in his '91 Chevy S-10 and we would share an orange cream slush from Sonic. When he first kissed me it was simple and sweet. He said that he wanted to keep the kisses simple because he didn't want to start any dangerous fires. . . that didn't last long. ;-)

I am not sure exactly when he fell for me so hard but it happened quickly and he proposed that winter and we got hitched June 3, 2005. Then, we drove the old Chevy truck cross country to finish school in Idaho and start our life together.

The past four years have been excellent and Austin has turned out to be one lucky catch. He is an amazing husband. I appreciate so many of the things he has done for me. By encouraging me to finish school and pursue my own interests he has helped me to grow up and become more secure in my own skin. He tells others only positive things about us and he makes sure to tell me everyday that I'm beautiful.

After helping me to create a wonderful bundle of joy he is becoming a great father. I can't wait to see them together playing sports and telling silly stories.

I am so blessed to have Austin as my eternal companion and I look forward to sharing my love with him forever.

Chattanooga has a Double A division baseball team called the Lookouts. They play at the AT&T field downtown. This last weekend we had a chance to check them out. It was Asher's first time to attend a baseball game. He pretty much slept through the whole thing. Guess he's not that into baseball. . .

I absolutely looove this sling. It is called a sleep wrap and you can find them at www.sleepywrap.com, my coworkers at MailSouth bought it for me and it is great. I take Asher in it everywhere we go: Walmart, the dog park, restaurants, downtown, here on the bus. It's so awesome because I am completely hands free and Asher settles in and enjoys being next to my chest.

The Storyteller

Since the first day we brought him home Asher has loved to talk and tell stories, just like his dad. It makes us laugh and we think he is just the cutest. Gigi thinks it means he is a genius. haha. No pressure, though.

May is almost over?

After April practically didn't exist for us and May is already nearing an end I ask just one question -

Are we insane?

Not only did we have our first child but Austin graduated from UA with his MBA, I said good-bye to my job and we packed everything up and moved to Chattanooga, TN. Phew! All that has been a stress inducer for sure.

Thank goodness Chattanooga is so beautiful and Austin's new job has started off well. Our new place is certainly a step up from the 1950s stick home in Tuscaloosa. We have a garbage disposal!

Austin and my dad spent Memorial Day installing new shelves, painting accent walls and hanging artwork. Why all this for a rental unit? Just because that's how I am I guess...get it from my mama.

We will miss everyone in Alabama, just as we still miss everyone from Idaho. But because we embrace change and new opportunities we are looking forward to new friendships and experiences in Tennessee.

First Bath

Rub a dub dub . . .
After the umbilical came off yesterday we gave Asher his first bath. He seemed a little unsure at first but he loves the warm water. We have also discovered that he likes to take warm showers with daddy. So precious!
